Who Qualifies For A Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has officially opened the 2025 application system.
Applications are actually open and may shut on 15 December 2024.
*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding
To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must satisfy the subsequent criteria:
• Be a South African citizen or copyright who emanates from a home having a combined gross family income that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.
• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family income does not exceed R600 000 per annum.
• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not submit any evidence of income.
*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle
The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.
Applicants are reminded to supply the correct Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored within their South African ID.
NSFAS only funds individuals who are finding out or plan to research at a nsfas status general public university or TVET college in South Africa.
All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.
Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
